It all starts in April with Dragonfly’s storied Bare Root Sale, the biggest and best way to get a leg up on trees and shrubs. The stock comes in dormant from points distant — fruit trees, shade trees, ornamentals, natives — the whole gamut. All of it fully 40% off potted prices. Why? Being dormant allows these trees and shrubs to travel without soil or pots, and with minimal labor inputs. That keeps their expense low, and combined with the many varieties, high quality, and ease of planting — well, it’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to transform a landscape.

Perennial Plant Selection
Similarly, our perennial plant selection is one of the region’s finest. These are large specimens, planted in larger containers so their roots can continue to grow during the season. Perennial plants, along with shrubs, are integral to creating a beautiful and fulfilling landscape. They return year-after-year, gracing our lives and our yard with a lively display of color, transforming and supporting the living landscape. Our perennial plant catalog, along with our shrub list, is a constant work in progress as new orders come in and other varieties sell out. We ask customers to refer to our website or call ahead if you have a particular specimen in mind. We do our best to keep lists and catalogs up to date, and also respond to email inquiries.

Delivery and Ordering
Delivery is available with rates depending on distance and order size. Plant pick up is always welcome. Please make an appointment for plant pick up so we can provide you personalized attention and advice. Ordering ahead is strongly encouraged for large orders so we can check availability and ensure your plants are ready upon your arrival.

How to Order
Please fill out our order form and email it to info@dragonflygardens.net. Our preordered flats will incur a flat fee of $5/flat.
Large order (16 plants/species or more)
We will fulfill preorders only for single species flats or half-flats of two species (half-flat mean a minimum of 16 plants per species–this means a mixed flat is split into two species).
Small orders (fewer than 16 pots of one species)
If you plan to purchase a smaller quantity or want to mix fewer than 16 pots of a species, please feel free to come and shop our new, expanded native retail area.
Please remember that plants are living things so everything in our catalog may not be available at all times. We’d be happy to answer your questions about current availability. If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we can let you know when it might be ready or suggest a good substitution.

Delivery and Pickup Options for Your Convenience
PLEASE give us two days notice for native orders
Pre-order minimum for 2″ pots is 1/2 flat (16 pots) of each species. If you need fewer than 16 2″ pots of any one species, you are welcome to shop in our retail area.
For orders less than 5 flats, a $10 Hold Fee will be added. Orders larger than 5 flats will have a $25 pull/picking fee. We also ask for a 25% down payment on orders over $500.
Our retail area can be shopped at any time for smaller quantities.
We are sorry but we do not ship plants via USPS or other carriers.

Delivery charge per mile (one way), with a surcharge of $75 for orders requiring an additional trailer.

To take best advantage of Dragonfly’s Bare Root Sale, customers should refer to our tree and shrub lists posted to our website in late February. We do take “pre-orders” from customers buying five or more items. This guarantees early birds get their preferred varieties and quantities. Order early, get what you want, and because the transaction has been completed, the no-hassle pick-up means customers can pull up and pull out in short order.
Spring is the best time to save money and get roots in the ground, but by no means is it the only time. Dragonfly orders hundreds of trees and shrubs throughout the rest of the growing season to keep its stock full. We have over a thousand square feet of irrigated and shaded tree structures so that potted trees and shrubs can be seen fully leafed out, fruiting or flowering, allowing the discerning shopper to browse and select by preference.
Our staff is well-versed in how to care for, transport and plant trees and shrubs, as well as the optimal conditions/locations to plant them in.

We’re located in Amery, Wisconsin – just a hop, skip and a jump from the major metropolitan areas of Minneapolis/St. Paul and Eau Claire.
