The Rob Bursik Memorial Scholarship
"In joy or sadness, flowers are our constant friends."
~ Kozuko Okakura
Rob was suddenly and tragically killed by a distracted truck driver early in 2018. His loss shook everyone at Dragonfly Gardens and in Amery and the surrounding communities. Rob impacted so many people, especially through his love of plants.
Honor him by doing something 'green' - bonus points if you include someone you love.
And please, please, put down your phones while driving.
At Dragonfly Gardens, we believe the opportunity to have a Scholarship set up in memory of Rob truly honors his love for education and teaching. Rob would have done anything for his students and sincerely cared about each one as an individual. He took the time to build relationships with them, not just as a professor, but as a mentor and a friend. Rob wanted everyone who set foot in his classroom to succeed and find something to take away, even if Biology, Botany, or Environmental Science wasn’t something one of his students was particularly interested in he found a way to spark a desire to learn with his contagious laugh, sense of humor, and charismatic personality.
This scholarship will support a graduating senior from Amery High School, which began in the spring of 2019 and continues today. The scholarship is for $2,500 and is available for all graduating seniors with an essay form application.
