Phenology: Field Photos & Notes 2023

“I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature’s rebirth?” ~ Edward Giobbi

Production tunnel with Annuals and Perennials

This is one of our production tunnels and what our production looks like mid-March.

Native Production Tunnel

It may not seem like much now, yet this tunnel is filled with thousands of seeds and emerging seedlings. The seeds have been being prepared to be seeded since January. In April we can transplant them - especially if we are so fortunate to have lots of sun.

Annual House

This is one of our main tunnels we open to the public and we are almost out of room already - after about three weeks of slowly adding plants here and there. While this tunnel houses mostly annuals, it also has seeded vegetables, specialty plants, and peonies we have been working on since last fall.
